Eclipse Aviation has received provisional certification for its Eclipse 500, the first very light jet (VLJ) to obtain Federal Aviation Administration approval. But the company will not begin customer deliveries until it obtains full type certification, expected by 30 August.

Honda, the Japanese carmaker, said Tuesday it will begin selling aircraft for the first time in its history. Starting this fall, Honda will take orders for a new microjet. Dubbed HondaJet, it becomes the latest entrant in what is expected to be a competitive market for “very light jets,” or VLJs.

Embraer has more than 235 firm orders for its Phenom business jets. These are part of a $1.25 billion backlog of business aircraft orders unveiled by the Brazilian manufacturer. “That is five times what it was a year ago,” says Louis Carlos Affonso, senior vice-president, executive aviation.

It wasn’t’ anywhere near the $600 plus million the state and county are giving to Scripps Florida, but DayJet is nonetheless pleased that Palm Beach County Commissioners have approved providing $350,000 of a total tax refund of $1.75 million expected from the state to help it open a new headquarters and operations center at the Boca Raton Executive Airport.

t this year’s International Air Show in Farnborough, England, Cessna Aircraft Company announced it received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification for the Citation CJ1+ March 13, the Citation CJ2+ July 10 and the Citation CJ3 June 16 — allowing all of the CJ series aircraft to be certified and registered within the 25 European countries adhering to EASA regulations.

The Albuquerque company that is planning to revolutionize private air travel should be only two weeks away, at most, from achieving Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification of its flagship plane. Continued delays at two suppliers have pushed back certification of the Eclipse 500 very light jet by several weeks from the end of June, the manufacturer says. Final flight tests have been held up awaiting US Federal Aviation Administration technical standard order (TSO) approval of production-conforming equipment.
